This was the existing stacked stone wall. It was in terrible shape. The lower levels of the house needed waterproofing so thankfully the wall had to come down for good.
I disassembled the wall by hand and preserved what stones could be saved for the rebuild.
RIGHT: The stairs were also past their expiration date and needed to be completely redone. The ancient concrete was removed and new stairs poured
FAR RIGHT and BELOW: After years of never being capped, the top portion of the remaining wall had pretty much let itself go. I removed the top 2 feet of the wall until I felt like everything was still solid beneath.
A new beginning....
Wall complete!
This is a view looking to each side of the completed wall. Now time to put some flagstone on those stairs!
